Postcard from Edmund Husserl written 13.04.1934

Dear Friend,
It was very nice of you to remember and write to me on my 75th birthday. Thank you for your loyal friendship. How many people have turned their backs on me (including in the last year!). I avoided a possible celebration and took refuge in nature – but nevertheless, a flood of letters reached me, some of them were quite touching, from former long forgotten students of the earlier periods. We are excited about the prospect of your visit – we will welcome you with open arms. It is difficult for me to work undisturbed, some of those interruptions are of personal nature, contemporary. I hope I will be able to finish a volume. First, I must write a plethora of letters. We are sending our best regards to you and your dear wife.
Cordially yours, E. Husserl
