Letter to the Polish Academy of Science written 01.07.1963

Some time ago I got a letter from prof. Dorothy Emmet from the University of Manchester renewing their invitation to lecture at the University of Manchester in November of this year, I enclose a copy of the letter (please kindly notify me if it necessary to submit the original). This matter was raised last year, and back then I had decided to postpone it to this year. As far as I know the P.A.S. Foreign Cooperation Office had scheduled this visit for this year, so the recent letter of prof. Emmet is merely a confirmation of last year’s invitation. I sent in my passport documentation last year and I do not think I have to do anything else with regards to this matter. If this were not the case, please kindly inform me. At the same time, please let me know when the amount of £50 for the travel expenses should be sent to Poland, so that the passport process can be started, I have already written to prof. Emmet saying that it might have to be done, so as of now I am only asking about the exact date the transfer should be made. I do not intend to fly, I would like to travel by train, but since the travel expenses will be taken care of, it should not have any bearing on the situation.
Finally, please let me know when and how the money for the travel costs of my visit to Switzerland for the congress organized by the Académie Interantionale de Philososophie de Science – which is to take place at the beginning of this September in Friborg, Switzerland and which I have already submitted an application and and sent in the passport documentation for – will be transferred to Poland. I also intend to also travel by train to Switzerland through Austria. It may be that the matter of the transfer of travel costs for this trip is already getting urgent, so I am kindly asking for a swift reply regarding this matter. Today I am going to Rabka Zdrój, Słoneczna 15, Stasin, UJ Creative Work House. This will also continue to be my correspondence address until the end of July, Telephone Rabka Zdrój 1389.

Drogi Profesorze Ingarden, kiedy korespondowaliśmy w sierpniu 1962 r., wspomniał Pan, że myślał, że jesień 1963 r. byłaby momentem, w którym chciałby nas Pan odwiedzić na Uniwersytecie w Manchesterze. Bylibyśmy zaszczyceni możliwością zorganizowania wspomnianej wizyty jeśli pozostaje ona nadal pańskim życzeniem. Sądzę, że listopad byłby lepszy niż grudzień, ponieważ pogoda w grudniu może okazać się bardziej zimna i mglista. Wexcan udostępni Panu Profesorowi 150 funtów środków z funduszu uniwersyteckiego na pokrycie kosztów podróży, a gdy pojawi się Pan tutaj my zapewnimy zakwaterowanie i wyżywienie. Jeśli będzie Pan Profesor w stanie przyjechać do Anglii w tym czasie, zobaczę, czy uda nam się również zorganizować wykład dla Towarzystwa Estetycznego w Londynie, ponieważ zapewne zwiększyłoby to wartość wizyty z pańskiego punktu widzenia. Mamy nadzieję, że Pan Profesor będzie w stanie pozostać w Manchesterze na około 10 dni i wygłosić jeden lub dwa wykłady na temat estetyki, mam nadzieję, że ten list będzie wystarczającą podstawą do uzyskania paszportu.
