        n        Venerable Professor,

        n        In the coming months we intend to honour the memory of Edith Stein, who met her death 25 years ago in the crematorium furnace of Oświęcim [i.e. Auschwitz]. Therefore, it is precisely in Oświęcim that we intend to devote a separate session to her life and her work.
      n        I’m taking the liberty of asking you politely whether you wouldn’t mind speaking at this session on the topic of your former university colleague. I’d be enormously grateful to you for this.
