Letter to the Committee of the Library of Classics of Philosophy written 22.05.1954

prof. Roman Ingarden, Sr.                                                    Krakow, 5/22/1954
Department of German Philosophy

To
The Editorial Committee of the Library of the Classics of Philosophy
IN WARSAW, Krakowskie Przedmieście St. 79

I am sending you attached book V of the revised Spinoza’s Ethics /galley proofs: 251-279 /. I do not think I should have to read the correction of the Supplement, etc., especially since the decision to include these further parts was made without me. I also think it unnecessary for me to read any further corrections of the translation of “Ethics “. On the other hand, I would like to have a look at the correction of /Ms. Dąmbska’s/ translation of Leibniz.
Professor Tatarkiewicz told me that the next meeting of the Editorial Committee is to be postponed until June and that – supposedly – some efforts have been made to move it to just after June 15. Hence I would like to inform you that this date would be suitable for me, but I please kindly notify me of the final date when it has been fixed.
I am currently rewriting the corrections in the translation of “Critique of Pure Reason” on a typewriter, but unfortunately it is progressing very slowly. In any case, I will try my best to deliver at least a significant part of the first volume / i.e. up to the end of the Analytic/ before the deadline. As for the “Introduction”, I will be sending it at a later date; it can be paginated separately, in Roman numerals.

My deepest respect and cordial greetings
